Whirlpool Appliances and Date Codes: How to to determine when your Whirlpool Appliance was manufactured from its serial number and model number. Including stoves, code the manufacture date into the serial number. Manufacture date into the serial number. For a Whirlpool. Agree to the Hunker. HOTPOINT, CREDA, ARISTON & INDESIT DATE CODES To determine the age of a Hotpoint or Creda appliance up until 2002 the first two digits of the serial number represent the date code, but you would need a date code graph as shown bellow to determine which month or year it was made in. This system was reasonably adequate up to a point but only covered an eight year time span so you had to know roughly how old the appliance was before you could use it because any one date code would represent the same month but eight years apart so 01897836 could be Jan 1994 or Jan 2002. The example date code in the photo 91103209 is for July 2001 In 2001 Indesit bought out Hotpoint and Creda so by 2002 the date code system altered to the Indesit method, although there may have been some models still made with the old date code the majority are of the new type which is easier to understand and spans a 10 year period. Indesit date codes are taken from the first five digits of the serial number which is broken down as follows The first digit represents the year The second and third digits represent the month And the fourth and fifth digit represent the day of the month Like all other date code systems you would first need to know which decade the appliance was made in although with most appliances just by looking at it you should be able to tell if looks over 10 years old or not. So in this example S/N 60901.2956 The 6 is for the year 2006,( This dishwasher was not made in 1996 and production stopped before 2016 so the date code represents 2006 ). The 09 is for the 9th month, which is September The 01 is for the first day in that month So the serial number S/N 60901 means the appliance was made on The other four numbers are the production number of that particular appliance and not relevant to when it was made. The model number is at the start and the following three digits are the date code. These date codes run in a ten year cycle so it is assumed you know the decade the appliance was made in The first of the three numbers is the last digit of the year and the following two numbers are the month.
